About UNPAID LABOR

  1. The Contribution of the first 12 generations of African Americans to the birth, growth and survival of the United States focuses on the collective Contribution of 10 million people over the course of 250 years.

  2. The sole purpose of the Unpaid Labor Project is to get the message out. The message of the Unpaid Labor Project is “Acknowledge the Contribution…, Abolish the myth of racial inferiority and superiority…, and Advocate for national racial reconciliation.”

  3. The symbol of a single black stripe in the American flag is an appropriate expression of the magnitude of the Contribution of the first 12 generations of African Americans

  4. HYPE THE STRIPE to get the message out

  5. The Project focuses on the Contribution aspect of American slavery rather than Victimhood. We acknowledge the horrors of slavery.

  6. The history supporting the conclusion of the indispensability of the first 12 generations of African Americans is personally attested to by 117 prominent PhD historians

  7. The time period covered is 1607 to 1865.

  8. The Unpaid Labor Project only relates to slavery in the United States of America.

  9. We take no position on contemporary political issues such as reparations, police brutality, mass incarceration, etc.

  10. The Unpaid Labor message is for Black and White Americans.

  11. We are organized to self-fund so that the integrity of the message can be maintained.

  12. Unpaid Labor Project is a national movement.

  13. We are not advocating for a change in the design of the American Flag.

  14. The Unpaid Labor Project honors the United States of America and our flag.

  15. The Unpaid Labor message is designed to be unique, non-confrontational, unifying, and proactive.

  16. The Unpaid Labor Project does not vilify the Founding Fathers.

  17. Most Black and White Americans are not familiar with the vital contribution of Black people to the nation between 1619 and 1865 because the scholarship on that perspective of United States history is relatively new.

  18. Being a White person does not equal being a racist, but not understanding White privilege and its source perpetuates racism.
